April 5, 7: Chelsea Theatre Guild presents ‘Clue: Onstage’

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Katie Moore for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea High School Theatre Guild will present Clue: Onstage, at the Washington Street Education Center (WSEC), April 5 and 7.

Clue is a play adaptation of the well-known board game and movie. It’s a playful murder mystery in which an array of house staff, the butler, and— of course— the quirky houseguests, are locked together in a mansion under diabolical circumstances and try to solve the age-old question: whodunnit, where, and with what? As the night progresses and body count increases, the guests make and break alliances and finally begin to crack the code— until the very end.

“[This show] has something for everyone,” said Paige Conway, director of the show. “There’s suspense, there’s humor ranging from low-brow to really clever stuff, a group of stock characters we can all love, and lots of slamming doors… We’ve [also] integrated foley art into the show, which is the artistic process of creating live sound effects. All sound effects in the show are created by actors in real time, which has really added to the atmosphere of the show.”

“This is a very different show than we’ve ever done before,” said Emily Rosolowski, assistant director of the show.

Along with incorporating foley (art), Clue is a spoof of itself, with a fast-paced plot and audience interaction, ensuring plenty of laughs along the way.

“[Clue] fits most stereotypes and then breaks them,” said Teddy Woodard, who plays Colonel Mustard in the show. “It’s a classic 40’s to 50’s-style radio show type of play, and I love it.”

Clue: Onstage will take place April 5 at 7p.m. and April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Washington Street Education Center, 500 Washington St.

Tickets are sold only at the door at $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for students. NOTE: This show is rated PG.
