Acclaimed restaurateur, culinary arts instructor, and healthy cooking advocate Peter di Lorenzi  gave his signature “Budget Market Meals” cooking demo at Wednesday’s Bushel Basket Market. Market shoppers gathered to learn tips and techniques from two of his recipes – “Asparagus Sauce for Pasta” and “Greens and Potatoes with Garlic.”

If you missed his demo, you’re in luck, he’ll be at the Saturday Farmers’ Market in the library parking lot off Park Street from 8-noon.

Di Lorenzi says he prefers to teach “grandmotherly and regional” recipes because the meals are healthy, nutritious, and cheap. He teaches students to be liberal with their use of olive oil (“Drano for the circulatory system”) and urges them to keep the peels on their potatoes (“Peeled potatoes are like Wonder Bread with a little potassium thrown in”).
