Aug. 19: Transition Town Chelsea hears about hemp

On Monday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m., the Transition Town Chelsea group will meet at 6:30 p.m. in room 112 of the Washington Street Education Center for its free August meeting and potluck.

Perhaps you have heard that growing hemp has become legal again with the 2018 Farm Bill, and probably you know that hemp is not the same as its cannabinoid cousin marijuana.

In particular, hemp contains very little THC.  But it does contain other very useful compounds such as CBD and CBG.  Can they help regenerate neurons?

Mark Wagnon will speak about the new multi-million dollar research project to demonstrate medical benefits of hemp-derived compounds by running clinical trials and partnering with hemp growers and with labs for analysis.

This effort draws inspiration from Wagnon’s own story, which he will tell on Monday, about how he successfully treated his mother’s late-stage Alzheimer’s condition with a mixture heavy in CBG from hemp – bringing her mental abilities back 90 percent, which is considered nearly impossible.

He will also speak about his “next-gen management company” called nHemp, which provides consulting for people to get established growing hemp for plastics, medicine, building materials, nanotech, and food.

There may also be opportunities to get involved in the research project.

The potluck meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation at 7:15 p.m. If you plan to go to the potluck meal, please bring a dish to pass and your own place settings.
