Ballet Chelsea announces winter classes

Ballet Chelsea recently announced new classes in addition to its current curriculum of ballet, hip-hop and jazz classes for all ages at its studio in Chelsea.

Students can register for classes up to the first day of class, which is Jan. 6

The new classes and their intended audiences include:

  • Silver Jazz, Monday, 6:15-7 pm:  A jazz class designed specifically for active seniors. No experience required. Adults.  Instructor:  Carrie Schotte. $60/4 weeks.
  • Silver Barre, Tuesday, 4:30-5:15 pm:  A ballet barre for adults and seniors who want to focus on building strength, balance and good posture. No experience required. Adults. Instructor:  Zoe Phillips. $60/4 weeks.
  • Dancing Off the Page, Tuesday, 5:15-6 pm:  A class that combines story time with dance, encouraging creativity through movement, narrative, and literacy. Ages 5-7. Instructor:  Zoe Phillips. $224/17 weeks, $75 costume fee, and $30 registration fee for new students.
  • Kicks & Poms! Tuesday, 8:15-9 pm:  This class focuses on kick-line dancing, pom, and dance team skills.  No experience necessary. Ages 12 years and up. Instructor:  Kaitlynn Schuster. $224/17 weeks, $75 costume fee, and $30 registration fee for new students.
  • Dance Verve, Wednesday, 7:15-8:15 pm:  A performance class that focuses on contemporary dance styles.  No ballet technique class required.  Ages 12 years and up. Instructor:  Natalie Krienke. $256/17weeks, $75 costume fee, and $30 registration fee for new students.

Ballet Chelsea is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that provides professional-level dance training to dance students through performance opportunities, enrichment activities, master classes, summer intensives, and pre-professional studies.

Ballet Chelsea was formed in 1995 to provide dance training and performance opportunities to young dancers in Chelsea. Ballet Chelsea’s company has grown to nearly 70 male and female artists from Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Grass Lake, Jackson, Manchester, Stockbridge, and Ypsilanti. Artists have a myriad of performance opportunities, including full-length ballets, an annual benefit concert, and community outreach activities at local schools, hospitals, senior centers, and libraries.
