Beach Middle School 7th grade blue basketball now 10-0

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Brian Boos for the information in this story.)

Wednesday night, the Beach Middle School 7th grade blue basketball team kept its undefeated streak alive with a 2-point victory over the Ypsilanti Grizzles, 26-24.

Regan Plank, arguably our best player, said coach Brian Boos, went down with a bad ankle sprain in the first half.

“We have eight players to go into the second half, Thomas Shemwell fouls out with 3 minutes to go in the game, and we are down by 4 points.”

The team went into the game 9-0 and had never trailed this late in the game.

In the 4th quarter, with 0:00 on the clock, and the score tied 24-24, Myles Bieber gets fouled and goes to the line.

“The officials discussed it and decided that the whistle blew for the foul before the horn blew on the clock,” the coach said.

The gym was small and loud,” Boos said, “Bieber toed the line and sunk the first (foul shout), nothing but net. My team went crazy. The officials had to calm the players to give Myles one last shot, he sunk it, pure net.”

The bench cleared and tackled Bieber to celebrate.

The 7th Blue team preserves its undefeated season. Max Herter finished with 13 points, Bieber 9, Thomas Shemwell, Jonathon Shemwell, and Hayden Long 4 points, and Tyler Cox 2 points.

The team has two games remaining: Monday at Dexter and Wednesday at Lincoln.
