Below are the results from Tuesday’s middle school football games.

7th grade gold

The 7th grade Gold Football Team traveled to Saline Tuesday night where they lost to the Hornets, 34-16.

While the Bulldogs held the edge early in the game 16-8, the second half proved to be all Saline. Highlights included two touchdowns by Tyler Valik and extra point conversions by Jack Krugh and Valik under the direction of quarterback and play caller, Griffen Murphy. Once again the kicking game, especially the punt team, led by Hunter Ferry‘s long snaps and Dylan Dollinger‘s excellent punts, proved superior.

Jacob Schultz recorded a 43-yard punt return and Connor McKenzie‘s kickoffs consistently put Saline back on their heals. Defensively, Dollinger recorded two sacks and McKenzie an interception but the Hornet backs proved too elusive for the Bulldogs in the second half.

Next game for the 7th grade gold team will be at home versus the Kicking Mules of Bedford.

8th grade

The 8th grade Chelsea Bulldogs football team won in dramatic fashion over arch-nemesis Dexter on Tuesday evening, by a final score of 24-14. Led by scores from Aidan Boote, Kyle Knight, and Garrett Steele, the Bulldogs played 40 minutes of solid, hard-hitting, fun team football.

Chelsea benefited from great blocking from Justin Heim, Josiah “Golden Toe” Fitch, Jaden “Corn” Cobb, Tommy “Give Me a” Fiveland, Andrew “Bye-Bye” Byerly, John “The Refrigerator” Davis, Hunter “Tim” Allen, Tom Kennings, Jack “Kriss” Krauss, and Connor Boone, with laser accurate shotgun snaps from Brad “Ice” Fischer.

Mitchell Reynolds and Mason Pustay ran hard all evening, driving the Bulldogs offense up and down the field. On defense, Garrett Steele had two fumble recoveries.

The team wishes a speedy recovery to Daniel Golding, who is recovering from a non-football injury.

Chelsea looks to extend its win streak next week against Ypsilanti.
