Beach Middle School Swim and Dive Team 2nd in Erie Mason Invitational; Wes Wickens named outstanding swimmer

The Beach Middle School Swim and Dive Team had an outstanding weekend as they brought home the 2nd place trophy from the Erie Mason Invitational and 8th grader Wes Wickens was voted “Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet” by the coaches.

Milan won the meet with 407 points, Chelsea had 327 followed by Riverview Seitz 3rd with 227, Dundee 4th 183, Greenhills 5th 75 and Erie Mason 6th with 58 points.

Wickens took first place in the 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke and swam the anchor legs of both first place 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Olivia Olk took first place in the 50 butterfly and joined Wickens, Erin McDonnell, and Alexis Nelson on the winning 200 freestyle relay.

Olk, Wickens, Nelson and Fayth Frazier combined for the win in the 400 freestyle relay.

Other top 12 finishers included:

  • 200 medley relay teams of Ava Nelsen, Abby Robbins, McDonnell and Frazier, 3rd place; Allison Hause, Niko Fannin, Morgan DeYoe and Zack Handloser, 7th place; Rory Krause, David Thoms, Carlie Hodel and Jaron Ianelli, 10th place.
  • Olivia Ousley was 9th in the 200 freestyle; in the 100 IM Olk was 3rd, McDonnell 6th, Robbins 7th and Fannin 9th
  • 50 freestyle Alexis Nelson was 3rd, Frazier 9th and Handloser 9th
  • Diving, Melina Almhiemid was 2nd, Ruby Brown 3rd and Lauren Eicher 5th
  • 50 butterfly McDonnell was 8th
  • 100 freestyle Alexis Nelson was 2nd, Frazier 5th and Ousley 8th
  • 200 freestyle relay team of Robbins, Handloser, Ava Nelsen and Ousley was 7th and Courtnee Clouse, Fannin, Ianelli and DeYoe 10th
  • 100 backstroke Ava Nelson was 9th and Clouse 12th
  • 100 breaststroke Robbins was 6th, Fannin 8th and Handloser 9th
  • 400 freestyle relay team of Ianelli, Ousley, Olivia Prodin and Ava Nelsen was 7th and Zander Hartsuff, Hause, Krause and Clouse were 12th.
