Beach Middle School volleyball season concludes

(Chelsea Update would like to thank the volleyball coaches and Jason Morris, middle school athletic director, for all the fall sports stories this season.)

Here are the final Beach Middle School volleyball results for the season.

The 7th grade blue volleyball team won its final match of the season Monday night, Oct. 22, defeating Tecumseh in the team’s most exciting match of the season. The team was down in the first game 17-24 and rallied back behind the strong serving of Paige Romelhardt to take the lead at 25-24, but then lost the first game 25-27. In the second game, the team came from behind again to win the game 25-23 with Kara Nold finishing out a 5-point serving run. In the third game, Emily Griggs opened up a big lead with a 10-point serving run followed by another 5-point serving run by Sydney Hines to win the game 25-11. Griggs led the team with 12 total serve points, Romelhardt had 7, Hines and Nold each had 6 for the match. Alise Hale had 4 points while Peyton Vandegrift and Emma Verrette each had 3 points, Zoe Steigerwald  scored 2 points, and Lexi Clark, Melissa Jolly, and Sabrina Matusko had 1 point each. Congratulations on a great match and an excellent season.

The 7th grade gold volleyball team had a good game against Dexter. The Bulldogs made a great comeback in the first and second games with a run of serves by Paige Stacey and Mallore Downer. The two teams were neck and neck but Chelsea couldn’t quite pull off the win. Everyone played extremely well and put in tons of effort. Audrey Phillips, Jordan Seitz, Kylie Saxton, and Annie Nichols just to name a few, had key plays last night.

The 8th grade gold volleyball team won its first game, lost the second and almost won the third, losing 23-25 to Dexter. Leading servers for the night were Autumn Johnson, Anna Knight, and Cassie Lungo. Olivia Byrd had 2 great saves. Megan Harrington, Lily Francisco, Kourtney Long, and Hanna Stock each had 1. Sara Stribe and Autumn Johnson were strong all around with several spikes and kills.  Every player contributed on the night. Good job, team.
