Bob Pierce was recently the surprise recipient of the Howard S. Holmes Humanitarian of the Year Award for 2018.

The award is given annually by the board of directors of Faith in Action in recognition of the community member who exemplifies the spirit of the organization.

Howard Holmes was instrumental to the success of FIA in the 1980s when the agency formed to help low-income people of the area. Now in its 39th year, Faith in Action helps hundreds of families annually in the area with basic support and advocacy.

Pierce will be honored at the 38th Annual Benefit Banquet and Auction on Saturday, April 28 at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital.
