Studio One Thirty Four, a hair salon that opened at 134 West Middle Street in March, celebrated joining the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 9.

Hair salon owner Nici Forner, who is also a stylist, has worked in the industry for more than 19 years. After working at two other salons in Chelsea, she was ready to open her own space.

“I’m grateful for my clients, many of whom I’ve had for over a decade, which made it possible to be successful right off the bat,” said Forner.

Forner is originally from Manchester and now lives in Chelsea. She wanted to stay in the area.

“I love downtown Chelsea and all the businesses here,” she said. “There are great salons here, and people are really good at their jobs.”

Forner wants her salon to provide a comfortable place for people to relax and get the services they need. The salon offers haircuts, custom color, highlights, bridal styles and more.

“I decided to join the Chamber now that I own my own space and want to feel like I’m part of the community,” said Forner. “The Chamber does a good job with small businesses here.”
