Chelsea Area Friends for Recreation eligible for Amazon Smile program

Chelsea Area Friends for Recreation (CAFR) is pleased to announce it is an eligible Amazon Smile program.

If you shop at www.Amazon.com and sign up for the Smile program, a percentage of your purchase will be donated by Amazon to support CAFR.

It’s easy and there’s no cost to you.

What is CAFR, you ask? The group is a newly formed not-for-profit organization to promote local recreational activities both indoors and outdoors. The impetus for creating CAFR grew out of discussions during the last several years about the need for improved recreational and cultural facilities for Chelsea area residents of all ages.

A lack of family-friendly, readily available, and affordable opportunities led us to create CAFR with two main purposes:

  1. a) Support the planning, construction, continuing operation, and enhancement of a community center to serve the Chelsea area community;
  2. b) Support the planning, development and enhancement of Chelsea area parks and recreational and cultural activities.

Beyond the necessary organizational start-up activities, our first main goal is the purchase of property suitable for recreational development.

Visit smile.amazon.com and sign into your account (or create one if you’re new to the site). Tell Amazon that your charity of choice is the Chelsea Area Friends for Recreation. Then start shopping. Most items are eligible for the donation.

Cyber Monday is fast becoming a holiday tradition. On the Monday after Thanksgiving, people shop online to take advantage of special holiday deals.  We ask that you feed your Secret Santa urge by enrolling in the Amazon Smile program and selecting CAFR as your preferred charity.

Would you like more information about CAFR or would you like to help champion this cause for our community?

Contact [email protected] or visit our Facebook page by searching for “Chelsea Area Friends for Recreation”.

Organizers currently have a fundraiser started on the page and Facebook is promoting a matching program on Giving Tuesday that will multiply your donation.
