Jeremy Barkey has resigned his position as athletic director for the Chelsea School District and assistant principal at the high school.
Barkey accepted the position of athletic director and class principal at Skyline High School in the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
His last day was Saturday.
“We thank Mr. Barkey for his service to the Chelsea community, our schools, our students and families since coming to the district in July of 2012,” said Superintendent of Schools Andy Ingall.
Barkey starts his new position in Ann Arbor on Monday, Feb. 24.
“Please accept my deepest gratitude for allowing me the awesome privilege of serving as athletic director and assistant principal at Chelsea High School for the past two years,” Barkey said in his last report to the Board of Education.
“I am so thankful that this opportunity paved the way for me to move my family to this wonderful community where we plan to stay,” he wrote, adding, “The Chelsea School District certainly is a special place and will always hold a dear place in my heart.”
Robin Raymond will be serving in the role of interim athletic director and assistant principal beginning Monday, Feb. 24.
Raymond worked in the Chelsea Schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator before his retirement.
Ingall said, “We anticipate posting the open position in March and would like to have the job hired to begin the 2014-2015 year.”
