For the second consecutive year, the Chelsea High School cross country team came home from the regional meet with the championship trophy.

In fact, not only did the team win the meet, but David Trimas was the individual regional champion.

The first six finishing Bulldog runners set personal records, including Trimas, who finished in 16:02.

Jacob Stubbs was third in a time of 16:18 and Joe Vermilye also finished in the Top 10, in eighth, in a time of 16:36.

“Thanks to everyone who showed up to support us,” Head Cross Country Coach Eric Swager said in an email.

Chelsea beat second place Sturgis by 16 points.

“We race at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. All are welcome and encouraged to watch the “Super Bowl” of cross country,” Swager said.Regionals-2013-1
