Chelsea Boys Track and Field Out Runs Two SEC White Teams

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Eric Swager for the information in this story.)

On (yet another) rainy night, the Chelsea Boys Track and Field Team performed very well to take two victories against SEC White Division foes – Tecumseh and Ypsilanti.

The Bulldogs dropped Tecumseh 89-48 and Ypsilanti 128-8.

“The guys had a great attitude, and performed well across the board,” said coach Eric Swager.

The team moves to 4-1 in the league, and it sets up a showdown with Pinckney for the league title at next Friday’s SEC meet.

“Track is a very unpredictable sport, with timing peaks and a fair amount of luck involved putting it all together,” Swager said, adding, “We will continue to work with athletes in all disciplines trying to hit our peaks at the right time as we enter Championship Season. We rely on our expert coaching staff to make this happen. Again, exciting, but quite unpredictable.”

Individual highlights include:

Races by Drew Sherwood – with some big PR performances in the 100 and 200.

Connell Alford was once again rock solid, as was Brandon Snyder.

Andrew Hilbert showed why he is a crucial part of this team with his hurdle performances, and many of the younger guys had lifetime bests.

This Friday, the team heads to the Golden Triangle Invite in Saline, then will gear up for next Friday’s SEC championship meet – which the Bulldogs will host.
