The Golden Triangle is the premier invitational in the state with 65 teams participating, 50-plus of which were large Division 1 schools.

“We come to this meet to challenge ourselves against the best, and to give the kids the experience of a big time meet,” said coach Eric Swager.

Chelsea responded well across the board, with many PR performances.

Below are some highlights:

  • The 800 relay of Cooper, Edwards, Skogheim, and Buckley set a new school record in that event, while finishing 2nd.
  • The 400 relay including Ryan Stasiak, ran the second fastest time in school history, and earned medals.
  • Noah Van Reesema competed in a thrilling 300 hurdle race, and once again lowered his personal best time while finishing third.
  • Bailey Edwards, Ty McTaggart, and the DMR team of Fahle, Heaney, Roush, and Gilbreath all earned medals against tough competition.
  • All the freshman milers set lifetime bests, highlighted by Carson Rabbitt’s 4:43- the fastest time ever run by a Chelsea freshman.

The team next competes in the SEC finals next Friday, followed by the regional meet on May 20.

“I would especially like to thank Shelley Wheaton and all the parents who contributed to the giant feast of food at the meet. We really appreciated it,” Swager said.
