A completely new use for an historic space was the impetus for a ribbon cutting Aug. 11 by the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.

The ribbon cutting took place at 120 West Middle Street at The Collins Off Main, the building once known as a Pontiac dealership. The new business is all about weddings.

Amy Grace Collins is the owner. She has owned Amy Grace Events for the last 19 years, an events agency based in Santa Barbara, California. She began working in the wedding business in Kalamazoo, and has now returned with her family to Michigan.

She saw the space on West Middle Street a year ago, and was drawn to its history, location, and potential.

The building’s capacity is for 200 people. Collins will work with clients to book a wedding date and also recommends booking a backup date. Clients can hold both a ceremony and a reception on the premises and Collins even offers a wedding day coordinator.
