Chelsea City Council Approves Several 3-year Contracts

The Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a number of items on its business agenda Sept 20, including a 3-year agreement with the Police Officers Association of Michigan, which represents the full-time officers and dispatchers of the Chelsea Police Department. (For more details see the agenda item at the end of this story.)

Also approved was a 3-year contract with WCA, the city’s current assessing firm, through Sept. 30, 2024, with small increases each year of the contract.

City Council also approved a work session for Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. to begin discussing the results of the police audit report submitted to the city by Bobcat Consulting.

Also approved was a power purchase agreement for the years 2025-28 and a map amendment to the city’s zoning map.

Police Chief Ed Toth told the City Council that the department responded to 246 calls for service. Among them, 26 traffic crashes – a higher than normal number of 13 on Old US-12.  Officers performed 12 traffic stops and issued 4 citations.

Five people spoke during public comment and you can hear what they had to say by watching the video of the meeting that is produced by Randy Lee can be found on the city’s website.
