In its last meeting of 2020, the Chelsea City Council unanimously approved the appointment of a new Planning Commission member Andre Monge for a term through June 30, 2022.
Currently a candidate for a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Michigan, Monge is a former Army officer, according to his resume.
City Council then unanimously adopted a second amendment to the Chelsea Area Fire Authority Articles of Incorporation, which rescinds the original pre-incorporation documents for the fire authority that includes the member townships of Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan.
City Council also set a public hearing date of Jan. 4, 2021 for a planned unit development renewal request for phases 3 through 6 of the Heritage Pointe subdivision, approving a motion to review the request from Daniel Johnson, In-Site, Inc., to renew the PUD Area Plan on Parcel 06-07-060360-006.
City Council also approved two year-end items – an agreement addendum for the city’s MERS defined contribution plan (last meeting, the elected officials approved an agreement addendum for the MERS defined pension plan) and amendments to the city’s 202-2021 budget.
During the council comments portion of the meeting, Mayor Melissa Johnson highlighted the numerous holiday decorations that have been added downtown and reminded residents to shop locally and support local businesses whenever possible.
She also announced that the city had received a second Connecting Communities grant that will be used to connect Veterans Park to Timbertown.
