The Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a new remote and hybrid meeting policy Monday night to comply with the state’s new Open Public Meetings Act.
Through Dec. 31, Zoom meetings will continue, then from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2021, the hybrid policy states boards and committees will meet in person with limited in-person staff and public attendance, and continued remote participation.

The City Council also reviewed and approved some new liaisons and delegates to boards and committees that were discussed at last week’s goals and objectives review session last week.
The third item of business was the unanimous approval of a resolution to assign delinquent stormwater invoices to residents’ winter tax bills. Also part of the discussion was the request to look at alternate ways to send these bills since they are sometimes overlooked by homeowners.
At the start of the meeting, eight residents spoke, a majority of them urging the City Council to set a date for a follow-up session to the community listening sessions held earlier this year. Because of Covid, the city will not hold its usual in-person Veteran’s Day events this year on Nov. 11, rather there will be a taped message from Mayor Melissa Johnson and American Legion Post Commander Howard Flintoft with more details to follow.
