Chelsea Community Fair Looking for a New Ladies Day Superintendent

File photo. Ladies Day crowd.

Do you like people?

Do you like having fun?

Like organizing?

Want to be involved in your community?

If you answered yes to all those questions, then becoming the new Chelsea Community Fair Ladies Day Superintendent is the volunteer opportunity for you, says Mary Tobin, who recently stepped down from the volunteer position to take care of family members.

Tobin, who took on the job after reading about the opening in “The Chelsea Standard” 14 years ago, says she is willing to assist the new superintendent.

“I’m happy to pass everything I have along and work with the new person,” Tobin says.

The Fair Board is hoping someone will take on this volunteer position and put together a committee of friends to help plan, organize and put on this popular event which is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 25 at 8:30 a.m.

Without a new superintendent, there won’t be a Ladies Day this year.

Anyone who has attended this very popular event, knows that there is a theme for the event and numerous door prizes are given away. There is also coffee and pastries to get the morning started and goodie bags filled with surprises for the first 275 ladies who arrive to the event. Ladies begin lining up at least half an hour before the event begins.

The superintendent would need to find a committee of volunteers to get the donated items from local businesses for the door prizes and goodie bags, and then fill the goodie bags. Committee members would help decorate the Multi-Purpose Building venue on Thursday night and run the event the next day.

The superintendent will also need to line up a sound system and entertainment as well.

Tobin says she has mailing lists to solicit the donated items.

If you would like more information, go to www.chelseafair.org and look at the Ladies Day listing and if you would like to apply for this volunteer position or have additional questions, email [email protected].

  2. I am happy to volunteer. I have enjoyed the Ladies program for several years and would thrilled to offer my assistance. If you already have a new superintendent I would be happy to assist her in anyway possible.
