Chelsea-invite-2014“This is always a fun meet, and this year was no exception,” said coach Eric Swager about the Chelsea Invitational cross country meet held Saturday at Hudson Mills Metropark. “It is great to see alumni, parents, fans on a beautiful fall day.”

“The athletes put on a show, as we swept the trophies,” he said.

In the Freshman-Sophomore race, every single athlete set a lifetime best, or was within 5 seconds of doing so. “A nice battle ensued up front, with Liam Heaney and Rayan Bahri dueling the whole race,” he said.

“It was also great to see the 3 freshmen finish basically together, and earn varsity points by going under 18:30,” he said.

In the Junior-Senior race, the guys ran tough, he said, adding, Miles Fischer and Campbell Fahle had lifetime bests.

“We now shoot for our largest meet of the regular season – the Portage Invitational next Saturday,” Swager said. “It will be interesting to see how we stack up in this ‘mini-state meet’”.

The coach also thanked everyone who went to the meet and supported the team.
