In case you think the youth just show up with their animals and show them at the Chelsea Community Fair, hold the phone — there’s more to it than that.

Even the youngest ones help with fair chores – washing and painting and setting up the gating that their animals live in during fair.

Here are a few photos of some of the youth from the recent “Worker Bee Day” when the members of the Chelsea-Dexter-Grass Lake Community Fair Livestock Club members readied the barns for their animals’ arrival.

It’s expected that there will be 95 pigs, 26 steer and four breeding beef, nine feeder calves, 21 lambs and two breeding lambs will be shown.

The pigs show on Tuesday, Aug. 23 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Arena.

The dairy feeder calves show on Wednesday, Aug. 24 beginning at noon followed by the steer.

The lambs also show on Wednesday, Aug. 24 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Arena.

On Thursday, Aug. 25 beginning at 7 p.m. is the Livestock Auction, also in the Multi-Purpose Arena.
