(Chelsea Update would like to thank Virginia Krueger for the information in this story.)
In an effort to support community members who may experience increased food insecurity due to the recent announcement that SNAP funds may not be distributed in November, Chelsea District Library (CDL) is partnering with Faith in Action (FIA) to hold a food drive in the library. Non-perishable items can be dropped off in the boxes located in the library lobby at any time during business hours beginning Nov. 1.
Donations will be delivered to FIA weekly to reach those in need.
FIA’s top needs currently are:
Baked beans
Hamburger Helper
Toilet paper
Chunky soups
Juice or juice boxes
Chef-BRD any variety
Condiments
Pizza sauce and crust
Rice and pasta sides
Size 5 or 6 diapers
Cleaning products and personal products
If you or someone you know needs support during this time, Emilee Fetters, the Community Social Worker for the City of Chelsea, holds open office hours at the library weekly. She is available to community members who may be in need of support services, community resources, or someone to talk to about things related to their mental health and well-being. Emilee’s office hours and contact information are available on the City’s website at: www.city-chelsea.org/services/community_social_worker2.php
