The Chelsea Girls Golf Team competed in the South Eastern Conference Meet on Monday Sept. 22, at the Legacy Golf Course in Ottawa Lake.

This meet wraps up conference play, and the points are doubled for each team you beat, so it is big factor in determining final league standings.

Going in to the meet, it was clear that Dexter had distanced themselves from everyone in the White Division, and would be almost impossible to catch by any team. It was also clear that outside of Dexter, order of finish at the meet would most likely determine the order of finish in the final league standings.

Chelsea shot a final score of 479, a pretty good score for us on a challenging golf course.  The score was good enough for a 3rd place finish at the meet and a 3rd place finish in the overall White Division standings.

Mackenzie Benning was the low score for the Bulldogs with a 110, Josie Ewald followed with a 114, Rose Sanville shot a 121, and Katelyn McKinley had a 134.

“I am extremely pleased with our finish, especially when just a week before, we were searching for our first win,” said coach Joe Ewald, who added, “Regardless of what level the team is at, I can never stress enough the importance of each shot, and the fact that every shot counts.”

If the team could have found a way to save 2 shots, we would have been looking at a 2nd place finish at the Tournament, and in the final standings.

Saline placed first in the Red division, at the tournament, and in the final standings.

The team will compete at Regional’s on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at West Shore Golf Club in Gross Isle.
