Chelsea golf teams post two wins in one day

Monday, May 9 was a busy day for the Bulldog golf team.

One varsity team went to Battle Creek for at tournament at Bedford Valley, and left another team stayed at home to play a varsity conference match against Lincoln.

The Bulldogs walked off two courses with two wins.

The tournament at Bedford Valley was small with only six teams, but six good teams. Chelsea won the event posting a score of 311.

“It was a very satisfying win, as we beat East Lansing by 7 shots (a team that has beat us by 1, and by 3, at two other tournaments this year,” said coach Joe Ewald.  Gross Isle was 3rd (another top 10 ranked team) at 323.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Jacob Houser with a 76, Ben Otto was next with a 77, followed by Cross Lucas with a 78, and JJ Duncan with an 80.

Chelsea won the Lincoln match by a score of 178 to 216. Scoring for Chelsea was Sam Yax and Brendan Doyle with a pair of 43s, Preston Ewald shot 44, and Ben Brannon had a 48.
