Chelsea Area Festivals and Events seeks participants for the annual Hometown Holiday Light Parade on Saturday, Dec. 2. The parade features a mix of motorized floats and walking units from Chelsea and the surrounding area.

Applications are available at the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce office at 222 S. Main Street, Suite B, or online at www.chelseafestivals.com. The submission deadline is Friday, Nov. 25.

“We have several businesses, neighborhood associations, and community organizations already on board to participate.” said Denise Cugliari, event coordinator.

Floats will stage in the parking lot of Chelsea State Bank (1010 S. Main St.) and must be in line by 5 p.m. The parade begins promptly at 6 p.m., proceeding north on Main Street. Continuing north, the parade ends at Jackson Street, just south of the railroad tracks.

The community is invited to warm up at the “Lights Out After the Parade” party hosted by Main Street Church. Located inside the Clocktower Complex at 320 N. Main St., the free event includes music, s’mores fire pits and hot chocolate.

“We were thrilled with the success of last year’s light parade and look forward to another successful event,” said Cugliari. “It would not be possible without our generous sponsors, enthusiastic parade participants and community folks and visitors who come out to enjoy the festivities.”

The Chelsea Hometown Holiday runs Friday, Dec. 1-Sunday, Dec. 3, and offers a variety of events appealing to all ages, including a Tree Lighting Ceremony, gingerbread house displays, a live Nativity scene, several classical music concerts, as well as many opportunities to visit with Santa.

Chelsea Hometown Holidays is presented by Chelsea Area Festivals and Events and is sponsored by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, Lake Trust Credit Union, Chelsea Comfort Inn and Conference Center, The Common Grill, Bill Ballagh State Farm Insurance and the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.  For a complete schedule of events, please visit www.chelseafestivals.com
