Only seven cities in Michigan host Special Olympics finals and Chelsea is one of them.
For the second year, Chelsea will be the host location for the Special Olympics state cycling finals at Chrysler Proving Grounds on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
This event brings about 350 Olympians, coaches, families, and friends to Chelsea for the day, according to information from the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.
Chelsea has also been selected to host the flag football finals, which will take place at the Chelsea Football Stadium also on Sept. 8 from 9 a.m.-noon.
The chamber would like to send “a huge thank you to Chrysler Proving Grounds, the Chelsea School District and Jimmy Johns for sponsoring the events.”
