Chelsea Human Rights Commission plans for 2018

By Lisa Carolin

Making final changes to surveys and creating a plan for the upcoming year were the main topics addressed by the Chelsea Human Rights Commission at its Oct. 18 meeting. HRC members unanimously approved the surveys as amended at the meeting.

There are two surveys – one for organizations and one for residents – with the purpose of determining issues. The surveys must first be approved by the Chelsea City Council before they can be distributed.

Members agreed that they’d like to submit a plan at the same time they submit the surveys to City Council with the goal of doing so before the end of the year.

The plan, which was discussed, will lay out ideas for the upcoming year. The results of the surveys will help the HRC prioritize. One goal members all agreed on is to build awareness about the HRC.

There is currently an opening on the HRC. Interested city residents are asked to submit an application by Nov. 1. For more information, click here and go to boards and commissions.
