Last Monday the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Chelsea PTO’s Co-Presidents Jessica Federico and Cheri Szcodronski. The PTO serves Chelsea’s two elementary schools, their students and families. Its mission is to enrich the educational environment.
Some of the ways they help include:
- Family Fun Night – bingo, cup stacking, crafts, and a dance party
- Teacher Appreciation Week – gift basket raffle with donations from 20 businesses
- Pastries for Parents – with their child
- Bus Driver Appreciation – pot luck
- Christmas Gifts for Teachers
- Ice Cream Social – many games in the playground
- Planners and folders of better quality for classrooms
- Snacks for teachers meetings
- Volunteers in School Office – during staff meetings
- Teacher grants – 14 granted – ($200 each)
Chelsea PTO has an 11-member board with a budget of $30,000 for their projects funded by proceeds from efforts like the Bulldog Jog. Students raise money from the community by jogging, running, or walking around a course at their school. (Kiwanis is happy to provide sliced apples as a snack to the children).
Kiwanis members will be at The Depot on Sunday from 1-3:30 p.m. for the pop up farmers market selling Gourmet Nuts and Delicious Delights. A 36-ounce can of 5 different tree nuts, or a tin of delicious nuts and raisins are $25 each.
