Last Monday, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Faith in Action Executive Director Sarah Shugart. She has been with Faith in Action for ten years, the last two as director.
Faith in Action is the largest emergency supplier in Western Washtenaw County providing food, clothing and help with utilities for those in need. Visit their website for details – www.faithinaction1.org.
Their service area has expanded to include Grass Lake and Scio Farms Estates. They also provide case management for Avalon Housing’s Hilltop residents in Dexter and Sharon Ann’s in Chelsea.
The federal poverty limit is used to determine eligibility for services, but Faith in Action has doubled the amount due to the higher cost of living in Washtenaw County.
