Chelsea Kiwanis Club Hears from Lisa Nickel and Sarah Bentley

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Last Monday, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Chelsea Schools Director of Special Education Lisa Nickel and Director of Early Childhood & Community Learning Sarah Bentley. Nickel has had a long career in Chelsea Schools since 1990, at North Creek, South Meadows, and Central Office. Last year, Pierce Lake Elementary was reopened for students. Sixty three preschool students graduated, and will move on to North Creek.

While at Pierce Lake, children developed critical thinking and early literacy. They improved their large and fine motor skills, worked on social/emotional areas and conflict resolution.

Please see details about the program at the end of this story. Also a part of that graphic is information about the millage proposal from the WISD of 1 mill for 10 years that will be on the ballot on Nov. 4.

Our club was pleased to present them with our annual scholarship donation for families in need to attend Pierce Lake’s preschool program.
