Chelsea Kiwanis year-end review, part 1

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Chelsea Kiwanis likes to keep the community informed on how the club raises and spends the funds entrusted to them.

Sources of revenue:

Chelsea Kiwanis raises about $60,000 each year, and appreciates the generous support from folks visiting our food concession trailer at the Sounds and Sights Festival and at the Chelsea Community Fair.

Along with our trailer, we also receive good-hearted donations at our Peanut Day event held outside of gracious business locations. (Unfortunately, proceeds received from our fruit sale ended last year).

Those activities are the largest portion of our income. We also receive funds from several gumball machines around town, donations received at the Chelsea Expo, interest from bank accounts, and donations from Kiwanis members from Chelsea and surrounding clubs.

This revenue is considered “civic” because it is raised in the community and all goes back to the community.

There is a separate account for “member” funds, which are raised by members for club administration, dues, meals, etc.

Chelsea Kiwanis will resume it’s normal Monday evening meetings on Jan. 7.

Normally, the club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.  Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to enjoy our speakers and learn about Kiwanis.
