Chelsea Parks Commission Holds Budget Work Session

By Lisa Carolin

The Chelsea Parks Commission held a budget work session on March 22.

The city’s 5 Year Parks Plan, which was based on feedback from the community and beyond in response to the Chelsea Parks 2020 survey, guided Parks Commission members about priority expenditures for each of the city’s parks.

Members of the Parks Commission discussed each city park individually and ranked priorities dividing them by short- and long-term goals.

Some of the expenditures discussed include adding a bike rack, benches, and a play structure for older kids at Pierce Park; updating and maintaining the wood playscape at Timbertown; adding landscaping and screening to reduce noise from M-52 at Veteran’s Park; adding signage and grounds maintenance at the Chelsea Dog Park.
