The Chelsea High School FIRST Robotics Team 1502 Technical Difficulties recently attended its second competition of the season at St. Joseph High School and came home with the champion trophy.
FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is an international program that works to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through the creation of high school robotics teams.
Team 1502 faced a tough road to the finals, but they found their niche as a defensive and assistive robot that could help the higher scoring teams. This led to them being selected by the number one alliance consisting of team 3620 the “Average Joes” of St. Joseph, MI, along with team 2337 the “EngiNERDs” of Grand Blanc, MI.
This was the first time Chelsea had been to the finals since 2007.This is also the first district championship that the team has won and they wish to thank everyone who has helped them get to this point.
The team would like to thank the Chrysler Foundation, which has supported them since their inception, along with Chelsea High School, Tetra Tech, Roberts Paint and Body, Chelsea Tool, Plex Systems, Inc., the Chelsea Education Foundation, the Bauserman Family, and Mike’s Home Repair.
