Rotary Club of Chelsea assisted by the Interact Club of Chelsea High School spent some time on Sunday, Sept. 21 picking up trash in the area of the Park and Ride at M-52 and I-94 as part of the state’s ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY program.
The weekly luncheon meeting (Tuesday, Sept 23) which is held at Silver Maples featured a presentation on American Sign Language by Holly Ridenour (CEO of Silver Maples).
Diane Sheffrey from Ann Arbor Rotary North Club presented information on the upcoming SEND HUNGER PACKING event to be held at Pioneer High School on Nov. 8. The Chelsea Rotary Club plans on sending a team to help. We also donated $500 towards the purchase of the food products used in packing.
Anne Nauts and Paul Schissler were recently honored by the Chelsea Community Foundation for their lifetime commitment to bettering our community. They have donated their $5,000 award to the Chelsea Rotary Club for future international projects.
Every Thursday night, one of the members of the Chelsea Rotary goes into Ann Arbor and picks up the leftovers from the day at Panera on Zeeb Road and delivers them to the St. Louis Center on Old US 12 in Sylvan Township. This week Bob Swistock was the carrier.
The Sept. 27 Saturday Chelsea Farmers Market will be the last time this year to purchase those wonderful African Market baskets imported from a small village in Africa through a fair-trade agreement.
