Chelsea Secretary of State office closing Friday for renovations

If you need to renew your driver’s license early this month, take note that the Chelsea Secretary of State office at 1113 S. Main St. will close for remodeling from Friday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 10.

New carpeting and other updates are planned, according to a press release from the Secretary of State office.

The office will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13.

Chelsea area residents who need services while the office is closed can go to Washtenaw County PLUS, 295 N. Maple Road in Ann Arbor, Jackson County PLUS
at 1082 Jackson Crossing in Jackson or the Ypsilanti office at 2720 Washtenaw Road.

The Washtenaw and Jackson County PLUS offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Ypsilanti office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

People renewing license plates, driver’s licenses and ID cards can also do so online at www.expresssos.com or by mail.

License plate tabs can also be renewed at Self-Service Stations, which are available round-the-clock at the Washtenaw and Jackson County PLUS offices and during business hours at the Ypsilanti office.
