The annual Chelsea Senior Center holiday lunch tradition on Friday, Dec. 14 may have been a week-and-a-half before Christmas, but it wasn’t lacking in holiday spirit.

Close to 190 people participated along with dozens of volunteers from the community, who served roast beef, potatoes, green beans, salad, and cake.

Jim Alford, a member of the Chelsea Senior Center Board, handled MC duties in lieu of Gary Munce, who was still on the mend from double knee replacement surgery.

Alford introduced the volunteers, kitchen staff, and senior center staff, as well as Johnny Mitchell, whose family sponsors the luncheon.

Mitchell led a prayer and said, “The senior center gives hope to people and the ability to come together and enjoy fellowship.”

Take Note, a local piano and flute duo featuring Pat Jannausch and Meg Otto, provided the entertainment with holiday music.

Participants also enjoyed the arrival of an unannounced guest, but not entirely unexpected, Santa Claus.
