Chelsea Senior Center has been selected as a $1,000 grant recipient of the Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions.

The senior center will use this $1,000 grant to help support its Meals on Wheels program. This service provides a hot meal and a daily wellness check to homebound seniors in Chelsea and Manchester.

Over 5,000 volunteer hours annually are needed to sustain this important program.  “We want to thank each and every staff person and members of the Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions that have made this donation possible.  It is this kind of person to person generosity that makes our communities such wonderful places to live,” said Gary Munce, president of the Chelsea Senior Center Board of Directors.

The mission of the Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions is to support the educational needs, community improvement and political advocacy for credit unions in the Metro West Chapter. The chapter raises the grant money through its annual charity golf outing which was held Aug. 17 at the Northville Hills Golf Club. This annual event engages 300 plus participants and exposes the credit union community to the continuous work grant recipients and their volunteers do for the local communities.

Eric Esser, the chapter president and charity committee member said in a press release, “The Metro West Chapter credit unions are thrilled to provide these grants each year, credit unions have a rich history of giving back to the communities they serve and I couldn’t be happier with the outstanding charities that benefit from our grants.”

The Chelsea Senior Center’s mission is to enhance the quality of life and well-being of area seniors and their families.
