Chelsea Softball Completes Sweep of Lincoln, 20-2 on Season

On Wednesday, May 11 the Chelsea Varsity Softball team hosted the Lincoln Railsplitters in an SEC crossover double header.

Game 1 was closely contested with the Bulldogs holding a 2-1 lead heading into the 6th inning.  One out walks by Emilee Underwood and Amelia Robinson followed by double from Zoey Monica and a single by Mya Purdy led to 2 runs cementing the win for the Bulldogs 4-1.

Emilee Underwood pitched 7 innings surrendering 3 hits, 1 earned run while striking out 7 to earn her 11th win of the season.

Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Mya Purdy who went 3 for 4 and Zoey Monica who went 2 for 3. Maggie Olaveson and Jenna Ouellette also had hits in the contest.

In game 2, the Bulldogs bats came alive tallying 14 hits and 13 runs to defeat Lincoln 13-7.

Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Andi Evers and Bekah Zachrich. Evers went 4 for 4 and scored  3 times, while Zachrich went 3 for 4 at the plate.  Zachrich also hit a solo shot in the 4th inning, which was her 4th home run of the season and the 26th for the team this year. 

Megan McCalla racked up her 7th win in the circle, going 7 solid innings, surrendering 4 earned runs while striking out 3. 

The sweep of Lincoln brings the Bulldogs record to 20-2 on the season.
