Chelsea Softball Splits Doubleheader with Saline

On Friday, May 20, the Chelsea softball team played Saline in an SEC crossover doubleheader.

In game 1, Saline took a commanding 5-run lead after two innings. Chelsea battled back in the fourth inning scoring 5 runs, which included home runs by Maggie Olaveson and Amelia Robinson to tie the score. 

Saline ended up scoring an unearned run in the sixth inning and went on win the game 6-5. 

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Jenna Ouellette and Andi Evers who went 3 for 4 and 2 for 3, respectively.  Amelia Robinson and Maggie Olaveson both homered in the game.

Emilee Underwood took the loss, which is her second of the season.

In game 2, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-run lead in the second inning and never looked back, defeating Saline 13-3 in a 5-inning contest. 

The Bulldogs were led by Jenna Ouellette who went 3 for 4 at the plate and Emilee Underwood who had 2 hits in her 2 plate appearances. Bekah Zachrich and Megan McCalla also had multiple hits in the contest. McCalla hit her 7th home run of the season, which gives the team 33 home runs so far this season.

Emilee Underwood earned the win pitching all 5 innings and striking out 10. The win was her 15th win this season. 

The split with Saline run the Bulldogs record to 27-3. The Bulldogs currently hold a 1-game lead in the SEC White Division over Pinckney. 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Pioneer High School and Huron High School at home, Tuesday and Wednesday, before traveling to Adrian for a pre-district game with the Maples on Thursday.
