Third-graders from South Meadows Elementary School participated in Project RED (Rural Education Day) at the Washtenaw Farm Council grounds last week.

Here’s what some of them had to say about the experience that exposes them to the many facets of Michigan agriculture.

Andrew Szpara: “I liked all the animals and I liked how you could experience learning how people farm and the things they produce.”

Drew Harms: “I got to see tractors and while we were there a baby chick was born. It was really cute and neat.”

Addison Sinkwitts: “I enjoyed seeing the dairy cows. One was BIG!”

Maggie McKale: “I loved this trip!”

Kaitlin Daniel: “This trip was really good! I liked it because it explained what people did on the farm. I really liked getting to taste the foods that they make in Michigan.”
