(Chelsea Update is running a series on businesses in Chelsea beginning with those that belong to the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce. This week it’s Key Life Coaching.)

Dianna Kause is a Certified Professional Life Coach and specializes in life transitions.

“I am the solopreneur of Key Life Coaching,” said Kause, who works out of a home office and can also meet clients at their homes or via phone or Skype. “My home office is by appointment and is located in town. My passion is creating and holding space for clients to explore the obstacles that prevent them from achieving their goals.”

Kause has been a life coach for close to 18 months. She became a Certified Professional Coach through the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching, which consisted of 320 hours of study, 90 onsite training hours, and several final examinations. She is also certified as a Master Practitioner of the Energy Leadership Index, an attitudinal assessment used in business environments and one-to-one coaching.

“The life coaching process requires a weekly, confidential 60 minute session for up to 12 weeks,” said Kause. “The question I am asked the most is ‘How is life coaching different from therapy or consulting?’ If you asked a therapist, a consultant and a life coach, ‘How do I learn to ride a bike?’, the therapist might ask you what past experiences, good and bad, have you had with riding bikes. The consultant would tell you from their perspective exactly what to do and how to do it. The life coach would say, ‘Okay, get on the bike when you feel ready and I will support you until you can do it on your own.’”

Kause joined the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce to network with other businesses and to educate people about what a life coach does.

“I have enjoyed being part of the Chamber and also became a Chamber Ambassador, which involves monthly, brainstorming meetings and access to a number of volunteer opportunities,” said Kause.

Kause grew up in Chelsea and says it’s a special place to live and work. She says there are many life transitions people get stuck in like divorce, health issues, relationships, and career changes.

“My personal mission is to offer an authentic life coaching service that successfully partners with people as they navigate through the difficult dance of life transitions,” said Kause.
