Chelsea Update is featuring a series of stories focusing on the folks who work at local businesses and who are outstanding employees. Alisa Bauer is one of those people. She was nominated by Mike Jackson, owner of Vogel’s and Foster’s, where Bauer works.

Bauer has lived in Chelsea for 27 years and says that she loves the hometown feel of working in town. And, she likes being able to call customers by name.

She is a buyer and manager for Vogel’s and Foster’s, where she has worked since September of 2012. Her duties include buying items for the store, managing style quantities and stock level, and managing day-to-day operations such as sales training, customer relations, floor and window presentation, and social media marketing.

“I have worked in apparel and gift retail for many years, including managing the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company store,” said Bauer. “I have known Mike Jackson for many years. When it was time to make a professional change from a corporate job to a private one, Vogel’s and Foster’s was my first choice.”

Bauer loves clothing and enjoys helping people find the right clothing.

“When people feel like they look good, they feel good about themselves,” she said. “I like to educate people about clothing and help them find the right fit.”

Bauer says that it’s important to keep the store looking fresh by keeping new products on display. Her favorite part of the job is the customers.

“I enjoy working with customers the most and helping them find just the right outfit for an event that they are going to or that special gift for a loved one,” said Bauer. “It is very satisfying when a customer leaves happy. We always strive to do our utmost with every customer who walks through the door.”
