(Chelsea Update would like to thank Coach Joe Ewald for the information in this story.)
On Monday, May 5, the Chelsea Golf Team hosted the Adrian Maples at Inverness Country Club. The Bulldogs won the match easily by a score of 171-219.
“We got the win, which was important to stay alive in the White Division title race, but with the match at Inverness, on a relatively decent day, I was hoping for a score in the mid 160s,” the coach said.
Scoring for the Bulldogs were Jacob Hauser with a 41, Sean Lyons and Teddy Darr had a pair of 43s, and JJ Duncan and Will Stubbs each shot a 44.
On Wednesday, May 7, the Bulldogs hosted another White Division rival, as they teed it up with the Lincoln Railsplitters at Reddeman Farms.
“Lincoln is a team that struggled throughout most of my first 10 years of coaching, but they have been on the rise, and I knew we would have a match on our hands,” Ewald said.
The Bulldogs pulled off the victory, 177-187, which may not seem that close, but through the first 4 scores, the match was dead even.
Luckily, the coach said, “We got some help from our number 5 and 6 players to seal the win.”
Leading the way for Chelsea was Blake Salgat with a 43, Preston Ewald shot a 44, and Michael Purdy and Darr had a pair of 45s.
