Chelsea varsity soccer hosted the Adrian Maples on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Chelsea controlled much of the play and won the game by Mercy rule 8-0 with 12 minutes left to play in the contest.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Chelsea hosted Parma Western High School. The first half of the game was terrific. Back and forth action by both teams with the lone goal coming in the 32nd minute from senior Ethan French off a Zach Skogheim assist.
Parma created a great chance late in the half when a ball was played through the defense and a Parma attacker found himself 1 v 1 with Junior goalkeeper Chris Cooley, who came up with a huge save to hold onto the 1-0 lead going into the break.
The second half began with a Nic Arons goal coming 9 minutes into the half allowing Chelsea to get out to a 2-1 lead. After giving up a foul in our defensive zone, Parma ran a designed play that created a goal scoring opportunity for themselves and they capitalized on that chance narrowing the margin to 1 goal for a 2-1 score 53rd minute. Six minutes later Chelsea drew a Penalty Kick when Matt Klink was tripped.
Chelsea scored the penalty and held onto a 3-1 win in a non-conference game against a quality opponent in Parma.
On Thursday, Sept. 10, Chelsea played visiting Ypsilanti Grizzlies. Chelsea won the game 8-0 by Mercy rule at the half-time break. Goals were scored by Matt Klink assisted by Campbell Fahle (2 assists). Zach Skogheim scored the teams second and third goals of the game. His first was an unassisted goal after he won a tackle on a defender and created a breakaway chance for himself. The second was a nice through ball played from midfielder Jack Pedlow.
Zach Lee entered the game after coming off a long stretch off while recovering from meniscus surgery. He scored a goal off a Chris Cooley throw-in that put the team up 4-0. Sophomore Cullen Lindsay scored his first goal of the season off a Campbell Fahle assist. Sophomore Joshua Kowalski added one of his own off an assist from Jake Jacobusse.
Jake then followed suit by poking in a pass played across from an Aidan Kurth cross. Ethan French scored the game’s final goal on an unassisted play in the box.
Chelsea is now 8-2 on the season and travels to Dexter High School next Wednesday for an SEC White game. Junior varsity plays at 4 p.m. with varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m.
