Chelsea varsity volleyball recap, starts post season

Chelsea varsity volleyball recently finished the regular season and looks toward to the post season.

The Bulldogs ended their regular season play on Oct. 29 with a runner-up finish in the Chelsea Invitational.

Chelsea went 5-1 on the day, losing to Canton. The team beat Pinckney, Olivet and Melvindale in pool play to earn a number one seed going into bracket play.

Scores:
Pinckney:  25-21, 25-22
Melvindale:  25-7, 25-16
Olivet:  25-21, 25-23
Livingston Christian: 25-6, 25-13
Dexter:  26-24, 25-11
Canton:  17-25, 19-25

The team was matched up against Livingston Christian in the quarterfinals, beating them in 2.

The team was matched up against Dexter in the semifinals. Prior to the match, the Bulldogs had lost twice in the regular season to the Dreadnaughts.  Once at the SEC Jamboree and once in their dual match on Oct. 18.

The Bulldogs played some of their best volleyball of the year, pulling out the 26-24 win in the first set. The momentum clearly shifted to the Bulldogs and they kept up the great passing and serving putting pressure on Dexter throughout the second set, winning 25-11.

The team battled against Canton in the final, but were unable to beat them, losing 17-25, 19-25.

The team begins post season play at Brooklyn Columbia Central at 6:30 p.m.
