Some virtual paint workshops during the Covid pandemic evolved into a brick and mortar business for Brenda Fineman in 2023.
Fineman learned about becoming a certified Bob Ross Instructor and received her certification in the spring of 2022 and now invites participants to her own studio. She teaches painting workshops on a regular basis, and says her “welcoming” studio offers art supplies and a cozy atmosphere.
“Geek Brush Studio offers Bob Ross style paint workshops for adults and kids alike, along with showcasing an art gallery of not only art works from the owner but also featured area artists from surrounding areas,” said Fineman. “The Studio also sells a variety of art supplies including but not limited to Bob Ross paints and brushes and Bob Ross tchotchkes. Classes usually run about three hours and can be found listed on the website.”
Fineman gets a lot of satisfaction out of teaching people how to paint. She enjoys watching her students learn how creative they can be, and finds the process of painting to be zen and peaceful, a time to step back from the business of everyday life.
She says the Chelsea community is a good fit for her business.
“Chelsea is an ideal community in that it is just that, a community where people gather and help and support each other,” said Fineman. “It is a community of art and inspiration, and a community that creates a welcoming environment to all. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. My kids attend school here and I want to support the community they are growing up in.”
