Culture Creations in downtown Chelsea has just released its latest list of classes. Classes cover a wide range of mediums, interests, and subject matters.
This session there are six different teachers offering to share their knowledge and skills in 11 different classes.
Laura Scriven, the owner of Culture Creations, started her store at the end of 2019 with the intention of holding classes but, despite the strong desire, there just wasn’t enough room at her first storefront. Once she moved to her current location at 118 S. Main St., she was able to spread out and fulfill her dream of hosting classes and helping people learn new artforms and techniques.
The first class was a tin punching class taught by Ron Kozdron, a tinsmith formally working at Greenfield Village. Since then, students have continued to explore tin smithing as well as crafts like the ancient folk art of wheat weaving and Korean hanji (mulberry paper). More cultural crafts are lined up for this session, too.
Each class gives students a chance to play but also provides skills to be carried away from the classes and pursued in daily life. These classes are open to the public and suitable for all ages as long as the student has a 2–3-hour attention span or unless otherwise noted. Sign up as soon as possible as classes do tend to fill up.

02/23/2026 Felted Critter* – a guest artist will guide students through the skills and techniques needed to make your own felted creations. This time will be a step-by-step project
03/02/2026 – Pique Assiette (Mosaic) Egg* – a guest artist will teach the basics of this relative of traditional mosaic that uses a layering technique rather than grout
03/09/2026 – Pysanky (Ukrainian)* – a guest artist will teach the basics of traditional pysanky to make amazing Ukrainian eggs
03/23/2026 – Recycled Basket Weaving – using largely recycled materials students will make a small, handled basket
03/30/2026 – Beginning Watercolor* – a guest artist will get students started with their own sample watercolor booklet; exploring tips and techniques as well as a small finished project suitable for framing
04/13/2026 – Joyful Flower – using a variety of mediums, students will be guided to create a fun and whimsical 12×12 spring 3D picture
04/27/2026 – Decorative Candle – a guest artist will demonstrate how to use pressed flowers and foliage to embellish pillar candles (since how wax will be used, it is not recommended for children)
05/04/2026 – Wire Tree – bend wires around a rock to create a small, bonsai-style tree. There will be the option to embellish with stones or beads
05/18/2026 – Felted Soap – using Farm Sudz soaps, students will learn how to wrap roving around the bar to create fun and whimsical gift soaps
