Dec. 16: Independence Hall Holiday Boutique Shopping

By Crystal Hayduk

If you would like to master the challenge of mid-December holiday shopping while also helping a good cause, look no further than Chelsea High School.

The Holiday Boutique Pop-Up Shop in Independence Hall (IH) will be open for business on Dec. 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The community is invited to enter at Door #4 (near the music door) to explore the classroom-turned-store filled with a variety of items that everyone will love.

With the support of IH staff, students have been making delicious treats, holiday decorations, stocking stuffers, and other items sure to delight friends and family of all ages.

Items are reasonably priced, and all proceeds benefit IH students. Teacher Katy Fillion said, “The funds raised through sales in the Holiday Boutique are crucial to giving our students opportunities to foster life skills through field trips in the community.”

An extra feature of the Holiday Boutique this year is a corner containing items donated by the Material Girls, a group of women who meet monthly to make beautiful handcrafted items for sale, mostly to children, in early December.

Independence Hall is a program that teaches life skills to high school students with special needs. For more information, contact Fillion at [email protected].
