District goals among topics to be discussed at Chelsea Board of Education work session

The Chelsea Board of Education will hold a work session tonight, July 18, and the topics up for discussion range from a Chelsea House Orchestra field trip to Edinboro, PA for the Highland Games in early September to district goals, a district/board survey and a board retreat.

The 6 p.m. work session consent items include:

  • a recommendation by Superintendent of Schools Andy Ingall to open up one seat n the Virtual Learning Academy Consortium for grades K-5 as a limited School of Choice for the 13-14 school year.
  • approval of a flexible benefit plan for district employees

Also on the agenda as action items are the approval of the 2013 WISD and Chelsea School District Special Education program and services agreement and the district’s annual loan repayment application.

A discussion of the district’s sinking fund levy, as well as a policy review are also planned.

At the end of the meeting, closed sessions are planned for Chelsea Education Association negotiations as well as the superintendent’s evaluation.

The Board of Education meets at the Washington Street Education Center.
